It’s a wrap for the second annual Future of Electrification conference!

We recently hosted the second Future of Electrification conference, a global virtual event that brought together experts in the industrial and commercial world to discuss how electric vehicles are leading the way in the race to sustainability. Over two days, we heard educational presentations and panel discussions on case studies of electrification, new technology, examples of managing transformation, and discussions about the ROI of sustainability.

We were thrilled to have 1,300 registrants from around the world join us for this global event, which provided an excellent opportunity to collaborate with our partners and customers.

Our staff, behind-the-scenes, managing the virtual event.

The agenda had outstanding presentations and panel discussions that highlighted the latest advancements and challenges in electrification. Felix Garrard from Fenwick-Linde presented a session on the transition of power sources in material handling and Julian Seume from Wiferion presented “Unplug & Play - Is Wireless Power a Game Changer for Large AGV and AMR Installations?” Alex Edmans, Professor of Finance at London Business School, delivered a very animated and passionate keynote address, The Power of Electrification, with some inspirational takeaways. Of note, one suggestion was to invest time in conveying the message and elevating the conversation about electrification — an important objective of this conference.

An overview of Alex Edman's presentation.

The ZAPI GROUP was well-represented by a number of pioneering companies in the electrification space, including these presentations:

  • “The Future of AGVs” by Nicola Tomatis and Matt Wade from BlueBotics
  • Converting a Small Marine Vessel into Electric Drive - A Case Study” by Paolo Patroncini, from 4e Consulting
  • “System-level Considerations and Challenges in a Transition to Electric” by Gareth Jones from Zapi UK
  • “Tips for a Successful and Cost-effective ISO 26262 Project” by Shuang Zhao from Inmotion
  • “Specialized Electric Motor Solutions: Powering the Future” by Björn Berweiler from Schabmueller
  • Zivan and Delta-Q participated in a panel discussion on the evolution and future of battery & charging technology, along with Charged by Delta-Q partner Stafl Systems
  • Delta-Q also presented three sessions on specialized charging solutions and battery charging technology advancements

Other presentations covered various topics, from electrifying linear motion to approaching electrification in outdoor power equipment and everything in between. One of the key themes we noticed was the importance of standardization in off-road charging and power management systems. Several speakers emphasized the need for consistency in charging standards to ensure that electric vehicles are widely adopted across different industries.

We also heard from other experts, including Steven Sokolsky from CALSTART, who spoke on “Moving Toward Greater Electrification of Off-Road Equipment,” and Alastair Hayfield from Interact Analysis, who provided his perspective on how electrification will revolutionize the future of commercial vehicles.

Overall, we were pleased to have so many experts and enthusiasts join us for the second Future of Electrification conference. The event provided a valuable platform to elevate discussions on this topic and collaborate with others in the field. We look forward to continuing these conversations and seeing more advancements in the industrial electrification space.

If you missed the live event, all sessions are now available for those registered through the event platform until June 9. After that they will be publicly available on ZAPI GROUP’s YouTube channel.
