ZAPI GROUP Unveils Intelligent Energy Management Capability for Electrified GSE Charging Infrastructure

Written by ZAPI GROUP | September 9, 2026

New approach dynamically orchestrates limited AC power across multiple chargers and vehicles, addressing the critical infrastructure challenge facing electrifying airports.

Poviglio — 8 September, 2026 — ZAPI GROUPa global leader in electrification, will introduce a new intelligent energy management capability for the ground support equipment (GSE) market. Developed through the combined expertise of group companies ZIVAN and Ubiquicom, the capability will be previewed at GSE Expo Europe 2026, 15–17 September, in Lisbon, Portugal.

As airports transition to electric GSE fleets, the challenge is no longer how to charge vehicles individually but how to intelligently manage the finite power available when many vehicles need to charge simultaneously. Without coordination, simultaneous charging demands quickly exceed infrastructure limits, forcing operators to choose between costly electrical upgrades and underutilized fleets.

ZAPI GROUP is addressing this challenge with Dynamic AC Load Balancing (DALB). Driven by a Site Controller, DALB continuously monitors available power capacity and dynamically allocates energy across active chargers based on real-time demand. Rather than operating independently, chargers coordinate to maximize fleet availability and optimize existing AC infrastructure within grid constraints.

Beyond load management, the platform architecture supports first-in, first-out (FIFO)-based charging logic, data logging, analytics, remote diagnostics, asset traceability, and collision avoidance capabilities.

“The challenge airports face today isn't charging individual vehicles. It's about managing limited energy intelligently across an entire fleet of chargers on a fixed power budget," said Claes Avasjo, Executive Director, ZAPI GROUP. "By bringing together ZIVAN's charging expertise and Ubiquicom's connectivity platform, we are delivering a site-level management system that eliminates infrastructure bottlenecks and keeps eGSE fleets operational at maximum efficiency."

GSE Expo Europe 2026 attendees can connect with experts from ZIVAN and Ubiquicom at Stand F36.
